Color & Highlights
Dimension you can see — without frying your hair to get it.
About this service
Color is where chemistry meets craft. At Love Thy Barber, every color and highlight service starts with a strand assessment, a porosity check, and an honest conversation about how light or rich you can go in one sitting without compromising your hair.
From single-process root touch-ups and gloss refreshes to partial highlights, full highlights, and color corrections, Sammy works with premium professional color lines (think Redken Shades EQ, Wella, and Schwarzenkopf) and bond-builders so your color comes out vibrant and your hair stays healthy.
Who it’s for
Clients chasing a true blonde, a richer brunette, a glossy refresh, gray coverage that looks intentional, or a fix for a color job that didn’t go as planned. New blondes especially benefit from this consultation-first approach.
What to expect
- 1
Color Consultation
Strand test, porosity check, and a real conversation about how many sessions your goal will take. Sammy will never push you to a result your hair cannot safely reach today.
- 2
Section & Apply
Hair is sectioned cleanly, color or lightener is applied with foils or freehand depending on the technique, and bond-builder is woven in to protect your hair’s integrity.
- 3
Process & Tone
Timed development under heat or open air, then a custom toning gloss to land on the exact shade — not a close approximation.
- 4
Wash, Treat & Style
A pH-balancing wash, deep-conditioning mask, and a finishing blowout so you leave with a salon-perfect first impression.
How long it lasts
Single-process color: 4–6 weeks before roots show. Highlights: 8–12 weeks depending on placement. A gloss refresh every 6 weeks keeps tone fresh between full appointments.
Aftercare
- ✓Use a color-safe, sulfate-free shampoo (Olaplex, Redken Color Extend, etc.).
- ✓Wash with cooler water and skip washing for 48 hours after color.
- ✓Use a weekly purple or blue mask if you went lighter.
- ✓Apply heat protectant before any hot tools — color-treated hair is more porous.
Common questions
How long does a color appointment take?+
Plan for 90–120 minutes for a single-process color or partial highlights. Full highlights or going significantly lighter can run 2–3 hours; that timing is set during the consultation.
Will going lighter damage my hair?+
Lifting hair always changes its structure, but bond-builders like Olaplex woven into the lightener dramatically reduce damage. Sammy will tell you up front if your goal needs more than one session to reach safely.
Can you fix a color from another salon?+
Yes — color corrections are one of Sammy’s specialties. Bring photos of where you started, what was done, and where you want to land. Corrections are quoted in the consultation.
