Modesto Lopez

Modesto Lopez is the founder and creative force behind Love Thy Barbershop & Salon — a shop he started back in 2010 out of a garage in a small California farm town, with a vision to combine modern style, education, and a genuinely personal grooming experience. He is a seasoned West Coast barber educator, platform artist, and licensed barber in both California and Utah, with more than 15 years behind the chair.

With a bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology, Modesto blends technical mastery with a real passion for mentorship, client care, and confidence-building. His career has taken him through international barber education and advanced training across Asia — so the work in his chair pulls from global technique, modern West Coast style, and traditional barbering foundations all at once.

He specializes in men’s, women’s, and children’s haircuts, tailoring every style to the client’s features, lifestyle, and goals. He’s especially known for modern short women’s cuts, precision beard shaping, and relaxing hot-towel shaves that deliver as much experience as they do style. Beyond the chair, Modesto has mentored many of the stylists and barbers who’ve gone on to build thriving businesses of their own.
