Frequently asked

Everything we get asked the most — pricing, color timing, bridal, products, and the rest.

General

Where are you located?+

Inside Vara Salon at 10965 State St, Suite 217, Sandy, UT 84070 — just off the 9000 South exit on I-15. Free covered parking out front.

What are your hours?+

Open daily, 8 AM to 8 PM. By appointment only — book online any time and confirmation is instant.

Do you take walk-ins?+

Love Thy Barber is by appointment only. Our small team — Modesto, Sammy, and Erica — keeps every visit scheduled online, and because there are three chairs you can usually get a same-week appointment. Booking is quick and confirmation is instant.

How do I cancel or reschedule?+

We need at least 12 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel — you can do it right from your Vagaro confirmation, free of charge up to that point. Cancellations inside 12 hours, or no-shows, are charged the full price of the booked service.

How do I pay?+

All major cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, and cash. The $24 Thursday special is cash, card, or Venmo.

Pricing

How much is a women's haircut?+

A women's haircut is $70 — a customized cut, shampoo, and blow-dry finish. The Premium Cut adds a conditioning treatment and full style for $100.

How much is a men's haircut?+

A men's haircut is $35 (fades, tapers, and scissor cuts all included). Beard Trim & Shaping is $35, the Cut + Beard combo is $50, and a Traditional Straight Razor Shave is $40. On Thursdays, all haircuts, beard trims, and shaves are $24.

How much do highlights and color cost?+

Partial highlights are $125 and full highlights $180. All-over color is $90, a root touch-up is $75, and a tone & style is $55. Men's gray coverage starts at $45. Every color service starts with a free consultation.

How much is a perm?+

A men's perm and a short-hair perm are $75 each; a long-hair perm (past shoulder length) is $120.

Are tips expected?+

15–20% is standard in Salt Lake County. Cash, card, or Venmo all work. Not required, always appreciated.

Color & Highlights

How long do highlights last?+

Partial highlights grow out softly over 10–14 weeks; full highlights brighten longer but show roots a bit sooner. A toning gloss every 6–8 weeks keeps the shade fresh.

Will going lighter damage my hair?+

Lifting hair always changes its structure, but bond-builders woven into the lightener dramatically reduce damage. Your colorist will tell you up front if your goal needs more than one session to reach safely.

Can you fix a color from another salon?+

Yes — color corrections are a specialty of the team (Erica and Sammy both take them on). Bring photos and we'll quote it during the consultation.

Should I come with clean or dirty hair for color?+

Day-old hair holds color and lift better. Do not shampoo right before your appointment.

Men's Hair

What types of fades do you do?+

All of them: low fade, mid fade, high fade, skin fade, taper fade, drop fade, burst fade. Bring a photo if you have a specific look in mind.

How often should I get a fade?+

Skin fades 1–2 weeks. Mid/low fades 2–3 weeks. High fades 1.5–2.5 weeks. The shorter and tighter the fade, the more often you want it refreshed.

Do you cut kids hair?+

Yes — a kids' haircut is $30 (shampoo & styled), with a $24 special for babies and young toddlers ages 0–10.

Do you do straight razor shaves?+

Yes — a Traditional Straight Razor Shave is $40 (steam towels, hot lather, smooth finish). A straight-razor edge is also included with the Cut + Beard combo and beard trims.

Bridal

Do you do bridal hair?+

Yes. Bridal trials are $90 (applied toward the wedding-day price). Booking opens about 6 months out for peak season.

Do you travel to my wedding venue?+

On-site bridal styling is available within 30 miles of Sandy. Travel fee depends on distance and party size.

Do you do bridesmaid hair too?+

Yes. Bridesmaid blowouts are $55 each. Most parties book the bride trial first, then add bridesmaids closer to the date.

Products & Aftercare

What products do you use?+

Salon-grade lines: Olaplex, Redken Shades EQ, Wella, Schwarzkopf, and professional bond-builders. Your stylist walks you through exactly what they used and what to use at home during every appointment.

Can I buy the products you use on me?+

Ask your stylist — they'll tell you the exact product they used and the most affordable place to pick it up.
